David Nolan and Philip Sinden
imagining Hume London
Philip Sinden is a Pakistani Scottish photographer. He is known for his relaxed but structured work bringing the conventions of portraiture into his fashion and still life photography in the studio with natural lighting techniques or on location. Sinden’s intuitive eye captures a moment in time. He has made short films for various clients around the world and has directed a long form documentary film about the search for his biological parents.
David is a London-based stylist specialising in menswear, working closely with heritage brands and talents in the film & music industries. He creates silhouettes that blend the work of contemporary artisans and makers with vintage clothing, always putting craftsmanship at the heart of his work.
“Making these pictures came from a starting point of a few reference photographs and paintings, of artists I felt reflect the feel of James’s work.. something elegant and timeless, but also very unique and sensitive. The approach on the day is more intuitive, working closely with Philip until the images start to feel right as they come through, and have the right atmosphere to capture the beauty of James’s clothing.” -David Nolan
James has long been an admirer of David and Philips work, he has a particular fondness for the dreamy sense of wonder they create when working on personal projects together. James was keen to give them the free rein to create something that felt natural to them. knowing that there approach would complement the identity of Hume London.
